ICanServe Foundation invites members of the breast cancer community to the live stream of its workshop “Leading With Care: Building a Supportive Future for Breast Cancer Survivors,” on October 4 (Friday) and October 5 (Saturday) 2024 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the ICanServe Foundation Facebook page.
The workshop tackles breast cancer survivorship and supportive care issues.
Survivorship care refers to patients who have completed treatment for cancer. This kind of care encompasses the physical, psychosocial, non-medical and economic impact of a cancer diagnosis and its treatment. This also includes follow-up care and the management of long-term side effects.
Supportive care is the prevention and management of adverse side effects of cancer and its treatment. This includes management of physical and psychological symptoms and side effects across the cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment to post-treatment care.
Supportive care is also called comfort care, palliative care, and symptom management. Hospice care falls under this.
Workshop participants include members of Patient Power Philippines, an informal alliance of breast cancer support groups in the Philippines, and the city partners of the ICanServe Foundation. The livestream is open to all. Log on to the ICANSERVE Facebook page of October 4 and 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The sessions can also be accessed on the YouTube Channel of ICanServe beginning January 2025.
