If cancer didn’t get to me, I think I would have continued my life and lifestyle as if I were perpetually in college… I’m more responsible now and intentional in how I live my life. During my cancer journey, the financial coverage provided by my insurance was a source of solace. Connecting with fellow survivors also provided me with invaluable insights on navigating the best doctors, hospitals, post-radiation lotions, and dietary advice.
I am deeply grateful for the exceptional care from my doctors Diana Cua, Francis Lopez, and Marti Magsanoc. Our interactions were not just informative but also filled with laughter, making the journey more bearable. I’m also grateful for the companionship of my pets, particularly Georgie, my beagle (who since passed), who saw me go through cancer. Today, I have Charlie and Tarzan, who are my constant companions. They keep me active and happy!
I support ICanServe because I believe in early detection. With its many activities at the community level, ICanServe makes it possible for more people to understand this as well. So kudos to the Dynamic Duo of Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala and Crisann Celdran and the rest of the board who continue to put in their time and energy to ensure ICanServe truly serves others.

Icons of Hope is a social media campaign that features cancer survivors who tell their own stories, learnings and the lives they now live. It is part of ICANSEVE Foundation’s 25th anniversary celebration in collaboration with Camera Club of the Philippines. With thanks to Owen Santos and Zonia Bandoy.
