Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Baguio-based breast cancer support group Minda’s Buddies hosted a launch event for ICanServe’s “You Can Do This: A Breast Cancer Patient’s Manual” at Hill Station in Baguio City on September 26.
The event was attended by Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda, Chair of the Committee on Health of the Sangguniang Panlungsod; Marlene De Castro of the Baguio City People’s Council; Dr Noli Velasquez, President of the Philippine College of Surgeons—Cordillera; surgical oncologist Dr. Phyllis Bengwayan, radiologist Dr. Michelle Galang, Arlene Magalong, and Marian Catedral-King.
ICanServe President Nikoy de Guzman, with members Alya Honasan, editor of the English version of the Manual; Abby Arenas-de Leon, who graced the cover of the Manual; Teocel Apolona, and Myrna Guibao were also in attendance, as well as Minda’s Buddies cancer survivors, and members of media.
Written entirely by breast cancer survivors, “You Can Do This” is a comprehensive manual designed to guide breast cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers throughout every step of their journey, from understanding their diagnosis to living beyond cancer. It delivers vital information in a sisterly, conversational manner to help its readers feel less overwhelmed and intimidated.
