Consistent with its mission is to promote early breast cancer detection, ICanServe Foundation and partners will conduct breast cancer screening this month (March 2013) in select communities identified by sponsoring organizations.

ICanServe uses multimedia platforms to spread its message of hope and encourage women to follow early detection guidelines. It reaches the grassroots through forums organized by corporations, local governments, government agencies, non-government organizations, schools and other health-aware groups.

ICanServe volunteers, most of them breast cancer survivors, join the forums to help with registration and to speak with women often who are often afraid to go for breast cancer screening.

“The word cancer alone scares them. But being surrounded by cancer survivors emboldens the women in the barangays to fight their fear of going for a check up or breast cancer screening,” says Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala, head of ICanServe’s Advocacy committee.

Volunteer doctors from Makati Medical Center, Asian Hospital, and the Taguig City Health Office will provide their services at screenings scheduled on March 22, 26, 29 and 31 in sponsored communities in Makati, Quezon City and Muntinlupa.

If you wish to sponsor a breast cancer forum and screening in your area, email info@icanservefoundation.org with details on proposed venue, number of target participants, name of sponsoring organization and preferred dates. You may also request permission to observe the event.

ICanServe’s flagship program, Ating Dibdibin, promotes regular breast cancer screening in barangays, with the support of local governments.
