On March 2, 2013 the iCanServe Youth Division in partnership with Assumption College San Lorenzo’s Art Corps opened an art auction for the benefit of the iCanServe Foundation, Inc. entitled “Culture Shock”.
The art gallery, open from March 2 to 8, 2013, was located at the LRI Design Plaza in Makati, Metro Manila. It showcased over 100 artworks by members of Assumption College’s Art Corps club. Filipino celebrity and socialite Tessa Prieto-Valdes and ICANSERVE founder Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala led the ribbon cutting ceremony. Over 200 people graced the event.
iCanServe Youth Division President Monica Magsanoc called the event “a great success”. Magsanoc also served as club head of the Assumption College San Lorenzo Art Corps and explained her inspiration behind planning the event: “I wanted more people, especially the youth, to be more aware of breast cancer. Culture Shock was a great way to raise awareness for the cause as we [members of the Art Corps] were able to use our talents for good.”
In total, the event was able to raise over P120,000, with 50% of the proceeds going to the iCanServe foundation.
Vice-President of the Youth Council, Isabel Nepomuceno stated: “Hopefully this event will serve as an inspiration for others to help out in any way they can. By using our talents, we can achieve so much.”
